God's Timing and God's Provision

Bucky and I have wanted to adopt from China for sometime. It was one of the first countries that we considered before adopting Xan. However, China has some of the strictest requirements of any country that allows international adoption. We were never old enough (you have to atleast 30) and we never made enough money. That is until this year, 2011. This year I turn 30 and this year we finally make enough money to satisfy their income requirement. Isn't God's timing incredible?

When we first saw Becca's pictures, I will be honest, I was scared. Her special needs seemed overwhelming. In a matter of hours of seeing our sweet Becca's face, God provided the money to pay for her adoption expenses and her initial medical expenses. Then, after speaking to a plastic surgeon and medical doctor, her special needs are really not scary at all. God made it ever so clear to us that she is our daughter, He removed the fear of her special needs and He removed the fear of not being able to provide the means to repair her special needs. God's provision is extravagant!

We have a baby girl!!!

We received word this evening that the beautiful 10 month old baby girl that was referred to us on Tuesday has been "logged in" for us. We still have about 2 months worth of paperwork, fingerprints, approvals, etc. We hope to travel late summer, early fall. Please pray for our Rebecca Eden Rogers (Becca).

Step 2 - DONE!

Tomorrow I will submit 16 more pages of paperwork to our agency. This paperwork is for our homestudy. Today I also worked on some of our dossier documents. Whew, things are coming together!

Yesterday, much to our surprise, we received a referral of a precious 10 month old baby girl. She has double cleft lip and cleft palate. We are waiting to here that we have been "logged in" so that no other family can pursue her. We should receive this information late Thursday night. She is beautiful and has already stolen our hearts, however, we are trying to be excited and cautious at the same time since we do not have log in confirmation yet. I will not be posting her pictures on this blog in the near future, but if you see me around town, I will certainly have her pictures with me.

Adoption Application Completed

Yesterday Bucky and I finished the first step in any adoption...the 15 page application. You may be asking, "So, what's next?" Very soon we will begin our homestudy update. We qualify for a homestudy update because our last homestudy is less than two years old. That means quite a bit less paperwork and fees. YIPEE!!! Every country is different as far as when paperwork can be started, but with China, we will doing many things all at once - homestudy, S.Carolina Dept. of Social Services approval, Immigration approval and dossier documents. A dossier is all the documents that a foreign country must receive in order to allow you to adopt a child. Whew, my head is spinning just thinking about all that must be done by May 9th (my 30th birthday).

Here are the boys holding our application. Although they would never admit it, I think they are excited about a baby sister!
